Provenance

A meteorite is only as good as its paper.

Six checkpoints, the same six icons on every certificate, label and listing. If one is missing, the stone is not for sale.

  1. 01

    Fall witnessed

All-sky camera networks and eyewitness reports pin the fireball to a window of a few seconds and a bearing.

  2. 02

    Field mapped

We model the strewn field from trajectory and upper winds, then walk it in lines five metres apart.

  3. 03

    Stone recovered

Every find is logged with GPS, an in-situ photo and the name of the hunter who lifted it.

  4. 04

    Lab tested

A thin section goes to an independent lab for petrology, magnetic susceptibility and oxygen isotopes.

  5. 05

    Certified

Classification is submitted to the Meteoritical Bulletin before a single gram is listed for sale.

  6. 06

    Delivered

Shipped insured in archival foam, with the whole file in print and a permanent page online.

The Strewnfield guarantee

Buying space rock should not feel like a gamble.

  • Lifetime authenticity

If a stone is ever reclassified as terrestrial, you get every cent back. It has not happened since 2011.

  • Weighed to 0.01 g

Mass is measured on a calibrated balance on the day it ships, and printed on the label and the certificate.

  • Photographed on three axes

Each specimen is shot against a scale cube in daylight, raking and backlit, so nothing surprises you.

  • Export paperwork handled

Country-of-origin permits travel with the stone. We do not sell falls that left their country illegally.

  • Buy-back at 70 %

Collections change. We will buy any stone we sold you back at seventy percent of its original price.

  • Viewing by appointment

See the cabinet in person in our Lisbon reading room, loupe and magnet provided, no obligation.

The field key

One icon per idea, at every size.

Collectors read our labels the way pilots read a panel. Each glyph keeps its two layers at 20, 32 and 48 pixels — the solid shape says what, the softer layer says where.
